Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Birmingham City is awaiting the price of a midfield player they had been interested in.
The Blues are trying to assemble a team that can compete in the Championship next year, and they shown last summer that they are not scared to spend a lot of money, as seen by Jay Stansfield’s high-profile arrival.
Lewis O’Brien, a midfielder who spent the second part of the previous season on loan at Swansea City, is currently being pursued by Chris Davies‘ team in an attempt to purchase him from Nottingham Forest.
The 26-year-old, who is now unpopular at the City Ground, is anticipated to transfer again this summer.
While other suitors would prefer loans, Southampton is also interested and, like Birmingham, is aiming for a permanent capture.

However, Birmingham is unsure of Nottingham Forest’s asking price for the midfield player, and the Tricky Trees will make that determination shortly.
The midfielder has a lot of Championship experience, which the Blues will undoubtedly value. He also made just over a dozen Premier League matches when playing for Nottingham Forest.
After many loan stints in previous years, O’Brien is probably in favour of a permanent move this summer, if Forest agrees to his asking price.

During his loan in Wales, he was a consistent player for Swansea and left a good impression, contributing to the Welsh team’s remarkable comeback under Alan Sheehan.
O’Brien even managed to score during a 3-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle.
The midfield player will probably be enticed to transfer to St Andrew’s given Birmingham’s degree of desire, but the Blues will still need to be cautious of competition, especially from Southampton.
Under Will Still, Saints aim to return to the Premier League as soon as possible.
