Portsmouth rivals brace for £2.h5m League One bid as Southampton and Birmingham track in-demand midfielder.

The latest news about Pompey’s Championship rivals. Pompey began their summer transfer business this week, securing the signing of highly rated Adrian Segecic.
The Blues fended off interest from clubs around the world to sign the 21-year-old phenom, who has signed a three-year contract after joining from Sydney FC. With one new face already at Fratton Park, John Mousinho’s side have been connected with Luton Town midfielder Shandon Baptiste.
Pompey and Oxford United are both said to be interested in the 27-year-old. Aside from that, there is a lot of talk and speculation going around the Championships as clubs continue to spend money this summer. Here are the most recent headlines involving the Blues’ opponents. Potters’ plan for Lowe
Stoke City are preparing for a possible move for Nathan Lowe, according to transfer correspondent Alan Nixon. Huddersfield Town are reportedly aiming to sign the 19-year-old this summer after an impressive loan spell with Walsall. The Potters have placed a £2.5 million valuation on the striker, as interest in the Bet365 development programme intensifies. The Terriers are thought to be interested in signing Lowe during the transfer window, as Lee Grant continues to fortify ahead of the new League One season. Huddersfield have already signed former Pompey winger Marcus Harness, who left Ipswich Town, and ex-Blues target Ryan Ledson.
So far this summer, Josh Feeney, Murray Wallace, Sean Roughan, and Joe Lowe have all moved to the John Smith’s Stadium. Lowe spent the first half of last season on loan at Walsall, when he scored an incredible 18 goals in 30 games across all competitions. After being recalled by Stoke in January, the promising forward scored only once in 10 Championship appearances, including a start against Pompey in January.
Duo duel for in-demand midfielder
Birmingham City and Southampton have become the latest teams to express an interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien. Alan Nixon has stated that the Championship duo are competing to sign the 26-year-old, who is in high demand this summer. Pompey’s rivals, including Preston North End, Swansea City, Hull City, and Wrexham, are apparently interested in signing the former Huddersfield ace. O’Brien is entering the final year of his current contract at the City Ground, but he is expected to leave the Premier League club during the transfer window.
Since joining Forest in 2022, the former Bradford loanee has made only 16 appearances in all competitions for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, spending time on loan with LA FC, Middlesbrough, DC United, and the Swans. He appeared 16 times for South Wales last season, as Alan Sheehan’s side finished 12th in the Championship. Pompey will face their arch rivals Southampton next season, in the first south coast rivalry since 2019.

Hammers hope for keeper
West Ham are planning a move on Leicester City following their relegation. The Hammers are apparently interested in bringing custodian Mads Hermansen to the London Stadium this summer, as Graham Potter prepares for his first summer in charge.
According to TalkSPORT, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team may be open to offers for the 24-year-old because to PSR rules following their return to the Championship.
Hermansen has appeared 72 times in all competitions for Leicester since moving to the King Power Stadium in 2023, and he was a major component in the club’s title-winning season in 2023-24.
