Don Goodman backs Charlton Athletic or QPR to sign Peterborough’s Malik Mothersille

Speaking exclusively to FLW, Goodman explained how he believes Mothersille had a “brilliant season” despite Peterborough’s troubles, which might reward him a promotion to the Championship.

Mothersille, according to the commentator, is the type of signing that would suit clubs like Charlton and QPR, which lack the financial strength of some of their second-tier counterparts and must instead attract lower-league quality at a reduced price. “It is quite difficult to say with certainty that a player from one level will be able to advance to the next league. You only discover out when something happens.

“Some players can; some cannot.

“But there’s no doubt that Malik Mothersille had an outstanding season in what was an extraordinarily difficult season for Peterborough United. They maintained their reputation as a goal-scoring squad that concedes frequently.

“Mothersille’s 12 goals and nine assists (in the league) highlight his remarkable season on a struggling side.

He’s only 21 years old, so he still has a lot of room for growth. “So, if you are a QPR or a Charlton, I believe you would be signing a player that you can definitely use.

Charlton Athletic will be well-versed in Peterborough’s Malik Mothersille as they compete with QPR.

Charlton, in particular, will be familiar with Mothersille, having won promotion through the League One play-offs under Nathan Jones last season after finishing fourth.

Mothersille caught the attention for Posh on numerous occasions, but one of his most memorable performances came in their stunning 3-0 victory over Charlton in March, when he assisted teammate Abraham Odoh before scoring in the second half.

The Addicks have already seen firsthand what he is capable of, and you would think that more than a few of the Charlton players who faced Mothersille that afternoon would prefer to have him as a colleague next season rather than an opponent once more, this time at QPR or any other Championship club.
