Sunderland are reportedly pursuing Danish midfielder Clement Bischoff following his standout performances at the UEFA U21 European Championship. The 19-year-old Brøndby star is attracting growing interest across Europe, with Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers among the Premier League clubs scouting him.

According to Danish media, Brøndby are demanding a fee of around €6million (approximately £5.1million) for the youngster. The Black Cats’ interest in Bischoff was confirmed by The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, who revealed that Sunderland had scouted the midfielder in Germany during the tournament.

Bischoff scored two goals and registered one assist during the competition, with a particularly impressive display against France in the quarter-finals – providing a sublime long-range goal and a pinpoint assist.

Speakman Leads European Scouting as Sunderland Push for Reinforcements

Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has been active across Europe this summer, holding talks with players and representatives as part of the club’s Premier League recruitment campaign. Bischoff is considered a strong candidate who fits the club’s focus on technically proficient, versatile talents.

While Brøndby value Bischoff highly, the Danish club are in a vulnerable position as the player has just one year left on his contract. There is a risk that he could sign a pre-contract with another team in January, allowing him to leave for free in 2026. Keen to avoid that scenario, Brøndby are open to selling this summer.

The midfielder had previously attracted attention from Brighton & Hove Albion during the winter transfer window, with a reported bid of around £7million. However, a move did not materialise at that time.

Since joining Brøndby from Fremad Amager in 2022, Bischoff has made rapid progress. He featured 31 times across all competitions during the 2023–24 season and became a central figure under manager Jesper Sørensen. With the ability to operate as a left-sided central midfielder or at left-back, he aligns with Sunderland’s recruitment strategy.

Tottenham Eyes Dennis Cirkin Reunion Amid UEFA Quota Pressure

In a separate development, reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move to re-sign Dennis Cirkin from Sunderland. Spurs are looking to meet UEFA’s Champions League squad requirements, which mandate that each club must include at least four players trained by the club between ages 15 and 21.

Cirkin, now 23, played a key role in Sunderland’s return to the Premier League, making 39 appearances last season under Régis Le Bris. With just a year left on his contract at the Stadium of Light, his future remains unresolved.

As Tottenham prepare for their European campaign under new manager Thomas Frank, Cirkin is one of several former academy graduates being considered for a return to North London.
