Emi Martinez’s attitude on a Saudi Pro League transfer has been disclosed, with Aston Villa awaiting offers for the Manchester United-linked custodian.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Martinez, a World Cup champion, looked to accept that his time at Villa Park was over when he burst into tears at the end of the 2024-25 season. Those in the West Midlands appear to have been bid emotional farewell.

However, no deal has been reached, and the transfer window is now open for business. Martinez has sparked plenty of conjecture, but Villa is yet to receive a formal offer for the Argentina international custodian.

With that in mind, Martinez appears to be waiting for an approach from one of Villa’s Premier League opponents. It has been reported that Manchester United may want him as an upgrade on Andre Onana, the much-maligned Cameroonian shot stopper.

Martinez is allegedly open to the prospect of coming to Old Trafford, despite the Red Devils’ lack of European football in 2025-26, and wants to find a challenge that would keep him motivated ahead of Argentina’s World Cup title defence next summer.
