During the 2011 summer transfer window, Charlton Athletic made a number of wise acquisitions that helped the team win League One in 2012.

Ademola Lookman scored his first goal for the Addicks early in the game, but Charlton lost 3-2 despite taking a two-goal lead. One of those assists came against his old team at the AMEX Stadium.
Stephens was a consistent member of the team that finished one point behind champions Newcastle United, although the Seagulls recovered from their play-off loss that year and earned automatic promotion the following season.
Stephens created history when Brighton became a Premier League club for the first time and made it to the top level after a 34-year break. At Charlton, it always looked possible that he would make more than 100 games at the highest level for Brighton and Burnley.
