A legend of Middlesbrough raises questions about Rob Edwards and Michael Carrick’s future.

In addition to sharing his thoughts on Rob Edwards as his successor, Middlesbrough veteran Gary Pallister expressed his confidence that Michael Carrick will swiftly find another managerial position after leaving Boro.

This week, Edwards will formally assume leadership of Boro in his first position since departing Luton Town in January.

He guided the Hatters to the Premier League at Kenilworth Road, defeating Carrick’s Boro, but he was unable to maintain them there or even turn things around once they were relegated.

As he joins Boro, he will take over a team that was put together to play a totally different style than the one Edwards’ Luton team used to succeed.

One of the unresolved issues surrounding the appointment is whether Edwards will be tactically adaptable and discover a winning strategy that works for Boro’s present players. We shall learn more about this during the preseason.
