‘Think you’ve split the support with this one’: Aberdeen fans react to new home kit.

The Dons have unveiled their new home kit for the 2025–26 season. Aberdeen’s new home kit for the 2025-26 season has drawn mixed reactions from fans.

The Dons presented the uniform as an homage to history, stating that the two-tone red is inspired by two periods in our past.

The dark maroon red is reminiscent of the hue worn by the original Aberdeen team, created in 1881. “That Aberdeen side would later merge with Orion and Victoria United to form Aberdeen FC in 1903, and the rest is history.”

“This maroon red colour was also prominent on our most famous night in 1983 within the bench jacket worn by Sir Alex Ferguson as we defeated Real Madrid in Gothenburg, and most recently celebrated late last year throughout the launch of our adidas SPZL range.”

The Adidas kit features Aberdeen’s traditional red base, “a sleek polo collar and subtle pinstripes across the torso” and “distinctive stripes running along the shoulders and side panels for a modern, dynamic finish.” After the Aberdeen shirt was presented on Wednesday, fans took to social media to voice their impressions. Donna Snowie wrote:

“I believe you’ve split the support on this one. Not for me; fortunately, the away kit is a winner.” Stephen Bonner remained hesitant, adding, “Honestly not sure what to make of this one. It’s neat, but it appears like a training top.

” Jean Davidson submitted the following feedback: “Not a fan of this one, stripes on shoulder shoulder be white and it looks more like a polo shirt.”

Stuart Wilson wrote: “Surely there is an SFA regulation prohibiting collars on shirts? “Probably fine for a round of golf, but has no place on a football pitch.

” Perry Davies said, “When you’ve trained at 9 a.m. and teed off at 12 p.m.” Stuart Lawson submitted the following feedback: “Really nice, but perhaps white stripes would have made it look a little bit less like a training top.” The new jersey costs £70 for adults, shorts £40, and socks £18. The shirt costs £57 for juniors, £33 for shorts, and £15.00 for socks.

Ali MacDonald had already purchased the item, noting, “Would look better with a v-neck.” However, I purchased it for my collection.

Patrick Docherty wrote: “I like it; it’ll probably look better in person.

I’ve purchased mine.” Scott Wilkinson says, “As a full kit, it’s very nice.” The new home kit is currently available for purchase via afc.co.uk/store and the Pittodrie club shop.
