Joe Aribo is expected to leave St. Mary’s, and Southampton has three alternatives to replace him.
Rangers are reportedly the front-runners to sign the Nigerian, thus it appears like Southampton’s Joe Aribo will be
leaving this summer’s transfer window.
According to reports, Aribo has expressed his desire to quit the Saints.
For a variety of reasons, including his past with the team and the appointment of Russell Martin as manager of the
Scottish powerhouse, the Nigerian football player has been strongly associated with Rangers.
Since joining the Saints in 2022, the 28-year-old has been an integral member of the team, appearing in 104 games
while wearing the Southampton red and white.
Aribo was a key member of the team’s central midfield, but they now need to find a versatile player who can play a
variety of midfield positions and create plays to assist Southampton return to the Premier League.
Armin Gigović
After the German team was demoted the previous season, Gigović, a central midfielder, is presently playing for
Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga 2.
A transfer to a team that appears to be among the favourites to advance to the wealthiest league in Europe would
pique the curiosity of the Bosnian international.
The 23-year-old would be viewed as a solid addition by Southampton since he has the same box-to-box abilities as
Aribo, which includes the capacity to score goals and be a creative presence.
Due to the Bundesliga’s relegation, Holstein Kiel will not want to lose this promising possibility, but there might be a
chance to get him for less money.
Manu Morlanes
The Spanish midfielder has been a standout player for Mallorca in La Liga for the past several seasons, and he helped
the team finish in 10th place last season.
Aribo and Morlanes are somewhat different players; Morlanes is more likely to dominate the team when in
possession and try to dictate play. Southampton may need this guy to rule the Championship.
Since Southampton was so exposed last season, he may offer defensive stability in the middle and shield the
backline. He is also a player who is crucial in defence.
Even though his contract is set to expire in June 2028, he would also be a reasonably priced alternative for
Southampton to sign.
Lucien Agoumé
Despite only joining Sevilla for the previous season, Agoumé would be enticed to join Southampton this summer
because of the Spanish team’s dire financial circumstances.
Last season, the young French player participated in 35 games and helped the team qualify for La Liga.
Because of his quickness and ability to drive with the ball, Agoumé is a player who excels at box-to-box play in
addition to being able to disrupt play and dismantle opposition attacks.
It could be worthwhile for the Saints to enquire about the 23-year-old’s availability because Southampton would be
able to get the intriguing young talent at a reduced cost due to Sevilla’s issues.
