Nottingham Forest End Pursuit of Juventus Pair After Player Refusals
Plans for a €23 million double swoop involving Juventus players Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula have collapsed, as both players made it clear they did not wish to join Nottingham Forest.
Weah Rejects Move, Mbangula Hesitant
Forest and Juventus had reportedly agreed on the framework for the transfer deal earlier this week, finalising terms between clubs. But the agreement hit a wall when Weah flatly refused to even begin discussions over personal terms with the Premier League side.
Meanwhile, Mbangula showed little enthusiasm for the switch either. The midfielder reportedly stalled during negotiations, using the time to assess other potential options before giving Forest a definitive response.
Juventus Left Frustrated as Forest Withdraws
With neither player committing, Forest decided to pull the plug on the proposed deal. The Italian Club, for their part, had been keen to finalise the sales, hoping to generate €15 million from Weah and another €8 million from Mbangula. Instead, they now face a more complicated situation with two unsettled players still on their books.
Both Weah and Mbangula were left out of Juventus’ squad during their Club World Cup defeat to Manchester City. Following the omission, the players shared cryptic posts on social media, signalling discontent.
Weah’s Agent Lashes Out Over Juventus Tactics
The failed deal has sparked backlash, particularly from Weah’s camp. His agent publicly criticised Juventus’ attempt to offload the American winger, labelling the effort to push him toward Nottingham Forest as “shameful.”
