Experienced Defender Donervon Daniels Signs for Oldham

Oldham Athletic have announced the signing of Donervon Daniels from League Two rivals Walsall, following their return to the EFL.
He joins the Greater Manchester club on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract.
The 31-year-old Montserrat international began his senior career in West Bromwich Albion’s academy in 2011. He had loan spells at Tranmere, Gillingham, Blackpool and Aberdeen.
After his release, he joined Wigan, where he won the League One title in 2015/16, before later spells at Blackpool, Luton and Crewe. He joined Walsall in 2022 and went on to make over 100 appearances.
Daniels spoke about the signing to the club website: “I’m really pleased to get this deal done. Oldham is a club with a proud history and big ambitions, and after speaking to the manager, it felt like the right fit for me.
“I want to bring my experience to the group and help push the team forward this season. I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
“Once I heard of the interest, it was a no-brainer for me. The staff sold me on the vision here, and it’s something I’m really excited about.”
Manager Micky Mellon added: “Once I heard he was available, there was no doubt in my mind we had to move quickly to bring him here.
“He’s a strong character, reads the game well, and has that bit of quality in possession. We’re really pleased to have him on board.”
The experienced defender has signed a two-year deal.
