Hwang Hee-chan’s latest activity on social media has stirred interest among fans, especially in light of growing uncertainty surrounding his role at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The South Korean forward, who joined Wolves from RB Leipzig in 2022, now finds himself on the fringes of Vitor Pereira’s plans as the summer transfer window heats up.
Hwang had a productive 2023/24 campaign under former boss Gary O’Neil, where he netted 12 Premier League goals. However, following a managerial change, the 29-year-old has struggled to replicate that form. Pereira’s tactical preferences and squad reshuffling have pushed Hwang down the pecking order.
Former Teammate Ait-Nouri Interacts with Hwang’s Instagram Post
In a recent Instagram update on June 28, Hwang posted a set of photos from his post-season vacation. The caption, which included a tag for sportswear giant Nike, drew attention for another reason—former Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri gave the post a like.
Ait-Nouri, who made a £36.3 million move to Manchester City earlier in the transfer window, remains in touch with some of his former Molineux teammates. The interaction sparked a fresh wave of speculation regarding Hwang’s position at the club and whether more departures might follow.

Wolves’ Transfer Activity Suggests Hwang Could Be Offloaded
Reports indicate that Hwang is one of five Wolves players the club is open to selling this summer. Others reportedly on the list include Boubacar Traore, Tommy Doyle, Craig Dawson, and Sam Johnstone. With the signing of Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Hwang may find first-team opportunities hard to come by.
While Matheus Cunha’s departure does open up space, Lopez’s arrival, combined with Jorgen Strand Larsen’s 14-goal debut Premier League season, means the South Korean attacker is unlikely to feature prominently. Pereira’s preferred three-at-the-back formation also makes it harder for Hwang to fit into the system, especially in a central attacking role.
To add to that, Wolves are reported to be actively pursuing Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, further indicating that new attacking reinforcements are being prioritised over Hwang’s involvement.
Unless a change of circumstances arises, Wolves are expected to welcome offers for Hwang Hee-chan in order to raise funds for further transfers.
