Who was the best player you played with at Ewood?

You’re killing me, I see. Too many. Charlie Mulgrew was my prime, but I had Bradley Dack. Adam Armstrong was mine.

Let’s give it to Dackie since he is the best and most likely had the most impact on the squad during important occasions. Dackie was the instant man when you needed him.

How hard was it to observe his wounds?

Terrible. I have, of course, suffered the same injury. It was terrible for me to do it once, but fortunately I didn’t have to retake it.

I am aware of how mentally taxing that was for me. Thus, to perform it consecutively… Look, he deserves a lot of praise.

Given that he continues to play football, it would have been simple to quit up and declare that he would never play again. It hurts because he’s a wonderful boy with a great character, and he was unique during prime time.

Special, special player to play with. I was gutted that he didn’t reach where I think he could have reached without the injuries. That’s football.

I’m sure if you asked him, he’d be gutted that injuries have done what they’ve done, but also he knows how lucky he is that he’s had the opportunity to play football at any level for one game, let alone the number of games he’s played.

Roommate you’d share with on an away journey?

Bradley Johnson, easy. Very good. Makes a great cup of tea. Yeah, top man.

Was there any you try and avoid?

Dacky. He’s probably matured a bit now. He’s married now but he was just like a teenager. He wasn’t, he was 24. But he was like a stinky 17-year-old. A smelly teenager, just horrible.

Never wanted to sleep, full of energy. Anyone but him.

Best and worst trainer?

Oh, worst trainer. Bezza, Brereton Diaz. Rubbish. Rubbish. What he’s gone on to do is phenomenal. The rise of him from when he first came to where he’s got to is outstanding.

He seems like a creature of comfort to me. He prefers to feel at ease in his environment. He entered a new dressing room when he first arrived.

He had not yet reached adulthood. He had never left the small world in which he had been raised at Forest. Then he had to enter a changing room that was packed with our enormous figures.

For someone like him, that might have been extremely intimidating. He would have been the worst trainer when he first arrived, but I wish him all the best.

The best trainer, Adam Armstrong. How you saw him on a match day was him in training.

Amazing. Fantastic as a human. Fantastic football player. deserves all of the success that he has achieved.

Sharing the dressing room with him has been an immense honour, you know. However, a huge shout-out goes out to one second. It’s unbelievable that I almost forgot about this person.

Harvey Elliott. God, oh God. Although Rovers supporters were unable to witness him in person, he was incredible. Amazing. played like a man at the age of 17. A mermaid may be nutmegged by him. He was excellent.

Finally, one Rovers teammate you’d pick if you had to be stuck on a desert island with them?

I’m trying to come up with a truly funny person who could pull it off. Craig Conway, I’ll say.

He is resourceful, hard as nails, fit as anything, and has excellent banter. He also thinks he could start a fantastic fire out of nothing.

When necessary, he could lighten the tone while remaining calm and having a serious discourse.
