Dunfermline-linked Watford keeper Myles Roberts joins Walsall.

A custodian who had been linked with a move to Dunfermline over the weekend has agreed to join another team.

Yesterday (Sunday), reports appeared suggesting the Pars were interested in Watford custodian Myles Roberts, who spent last season on loan in Scotland. The 23-year-old appeared in 21 games for Championship opponents Partick Thistle in the first part of the season, including two versus Athletic.

Roberts, who kept eight clean sheets for the Jags, was recalled by the Hornets in January, and it was claimed that he was on Pars manager Neil Lennon’s radar.

However, it has been announced that the shot-stopper has left Vicarage Road to join EFL League Two club Walsall on loan for the remainder of the season.

Deniz Mehmet is Dunfermline’s only signed senior custodian for the forthcoming season, after Tobi Oluwayemi, who played 36 times for them in all competitions, returned to home club Celtic at the end of his loan term.

Mehmet played the second 45 minutes of Saturday’s friendly against SPFL League Two newcomers East Kilbride, in which the Pars fielded two entirely different sides in each half.

In the first half, a trialist custodian was given the opportunity to impress Lennon, and Dunfermline also fielded a trialist in defence after halftime.

So far this summer, the team has signed two new players: Charlie Gilmour, a former Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder, and Zeke Cameron, a former Dundee United teenager.
