After receiving the news, Maguire spoke with his source inside Wednesday, who appeared to dismiss the rumour.
Speaking on the Price of Football podcast this week, Maguire stated: “I have been in contact with our sources at the club because there was a story circulating yesterday that Barry Bannan had said something along the lines of you don’t pay me until all of the support staff have been paid, which, if true, was a very magnanimous gesture.
“I did, however, speak with the Price of Football’s secret Owl in the dressing room, who stated that Barry Bannan is a Scotsman; if you think a Scotsman will give up receiving money, think again.” “So somewhere along the way, there are mixed messages emerging. Even so, we’re not attempting to make light of a very serious situation.”

Bannan has been dubbed a ‘legend’ by Sheffield Wednesday supporters, but the midfielder’s future remains uncertain.
According to Capology, his latest deal with the Owls paid him £24,038 per week. Given Wednesday’s recent troubles with the EFL, the club is currently unable to offer that sum to any player, including Bannan, for a new contract. It is unclear whether Bannan will accept a lower contract offer.
