LAWRENCE’S HEART ALWAYS AT TYNECASTLE.

Lawrence Shankland believes that his heart will always take him back to Tynecastle Park.
The inevitable number nine returned to Hearts today, signing a new three-year contract. Open and honest conversations with Head Coach Derek McInnes, as well as some encouragement from an unlikely source, Jock the Jambo, were critical to his choice.
Lawrence told Hearts TV during the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain: “Obviously, I’m happy to be back. It’s a familiar changing room, and it’s great to see all of the boys again. I’m just looking forward to getting back on track.
“I’d been talking to the management about returning here, and I’d always kept the door open. I couldn’t manage to close the door behind me, which I believe offered me an indicator of where my mind may be. “I believe that is the most significant aspect.
As long as there was honesty about my circumstances, I believe all parties were pleased with how things turned out. I was always eager to keep that door open for myself, and it was critical that the boss was willing to do the same for me. “That was important, and our honesty paid off in the end.
And obviously, when it came to making the decision, it was an easy one, really, to get my head around.”After discussing with the family about where they wanted to go, especially my four-year-old Eva, who adores Jock the Jambo, we decided to return here. “I’m delighted with my decision, and so is my family.
I’m just excited to get started again.” Lawrence’s interview may be viewed in full on Hearts TV by clicking here.
