Fee agreed for West Ham striker target as Hammers door swings open for £17m ace instead
It is unclear which striker alternatives West Ham United will have left when they have money to spend, most likely
following Mohammed Kudus’ anticipated departure from the Premier League.
In a perfect world, the Hammers would have activated Liam Delap’s £30 million contract release clause at the start
of June. Thus, Kyle Macaulay may immediately cross off a significant duty off his list of things to perform during the
transfer window.
But, while Delap was encouraged to join West Ham over eventual employers Chelsea by a couple of pundits with his
best interests at heart, it became pretty apparent from day one that this would be a summer in which new signings
would have to be funded by prior departures.
Thankfully—or damningly, depending on your point of view—West Ham is negotiating the sale of Mohammed Kudus
to Tottenham Hotspur, a rival team in London.
The possible drawbacks are as clear as they are terrifying. On the plus side, though, a possible £60 million exit
should allow West Ham United to finally make a significant move on a number nine.
It remains to be seen if Mathias Kvistgaarden will still be available when Graham Potter has some cash to spare.
Mathias Kvistgaarden nears RC Lens move after West Ham United links

a Danish team.
Although some Scandinavians believe that a rumoured £12 million fee for Kvistgaarden would be “outrageous”
business—for all the wrong reasons—Brondby expects to profit from the Denmark international in the near future.
However, a “bombshell” of an update was released by the Danish publication Tipsbladet on Thursday afternoon. A
shocking revelation that might further harm a West Ham hit list that has already been cleared of the previously
mentioned Delap.
According to them, Brondby has reached an agreement to sell Kvistgaarden to RC Lens, a French team. Even if Lens
and Kvistgaarden’s team have not yet come to a personal agreement, the Ligue 1 team believes they have done
enough to get the striker.
The sum Brondby is anticipated to earn is not disclosed by Tipsbladet or Foot Mercato, but it will undoubtedly make
Kvistgaarden their most costly export to date.
French site Foot Mercato back up the claims that a fee has been settled upon. Lens, then, appear on the verge of land
another rising star with huge potential.
Lois Openda, Abdulkodir Khusanov, Elye Wahi, Sekou Fofana, Cheick Doucoure and Kevin Danso have already
passed through the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, to name but a few.
Hammers-linked Lucas Stassin is still available at St Etienne
Kvistgaarden will therefore join Liam Delap, Yuri Alberto, Thierno Barry, Emanuel Emegha, and others in a growing
group of center-forwards who seem to have eluded Potter’s grip, assuming a deal is concluded.
It is anticipated that Emegha would join Delap at Chelsea. David Moyes will join Thierno Barry, a Villarreal striker,
at Everton. Meanwhile, Jonathan David, who is quite productive, is moving from Lille to Juventus.
It’s not all terrible news, either.
Even though a club source has downplayed rumours that Lucas Stassin is moving to London, according to Hammers
News, the St Etienne star is one of the few striker targets still available this early in the summer.
A few weeks ago, Lucas Stassin was strongly associated with Lens himself. West Ham might have been given another
chance at the Belgian Under-21 international, since Kvistgaarden is currently headed to the 2023 Ligue 1 runners-up.
However, it’s unclear if they will accept it.
