Hearts poised to sell Penrice to AEK Athens.

James Penrice, a left-back for Heart of Midlothian, is set to join Greek Super League club AEK Athens after accepting a transfer offer.
The 26-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership team on a free transfer last year when his contract with Livingston expired. Penrice impressed in an otherwise terrible season for Hearts, who ended in the bottom six of the Scottish Premiership.
If the Livingston-born defender and his representatives agree on personal conditions, the transfer to the team that finished fourth in the Greek premier division might be completed within the next 24 hours. Hearts confirmed earlier on Thursday that Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland had signed a new three-year contract to extend his tenure at Tynecastle.
Penrice began his career with Partick Thistle and, after a loan spell with East Fife, signed a permanent transfer with Livingston in the summer of 2021.
His achievements for West Lothian piqued Hearts’ interest, and he secured a three-year contract when he moved to Tynecastle last summer.
If Penrice’s agreement goes through, he will be the second Scot to move to Greece this week, following Scotland left-back Greg Taylor’s move from Celtic to PAOK in Thessaloniki.
