David Prutton fires Josh Sargent warning to Norwich City as Burnley FC circle
For an estimated £8 million, Sargent left German team Werder Bremen to join Norwich in the summer of 2021.
Despite a difficult first season at the club, in which he only managed two goals in 26 Premier League appearances, he
has since found fresh life in the Championship.
Although missing nearly three months of the season due to a groin injury, the 25-year-old still managed to score 15
goals and dish out five assists in 33 appearances last season. He has scored in double digits in each of the previous t
hree seasons in the second division.
Sargent’s goals, however, were unable to propel his team into the playoffs, and Norwich ended up in a dismal 13th
position. As a result, he is anticipated to depart the team this summer due to intense transfer interest from other
teams.
In recent months, Sargent has been connected to teams like Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Roma, and
Wolfsburg. Last week, FLW exclusively disclosed that Burnley, another recently promoted top tier team, has entered
the fight for his services.

David Prutton issues Josh Sargent warning to Norwich City
Prutton acknowledged that he thinks holding onto the United States international could be crucial to Norwich’s
prospects of winning promotion the next season after asserting that Sargent is among the greatest strikers in the
Championship.
In an interview with Benjamin Bloom on his YouTube channel, Prutton stated, “I believe that firing Josh Sargent is
one of the best number nines in the Championship.”
“Pukki had to work a little bit around the main man in the team he was on, but now he has a chance.
“This might be moot if he gets on his bike and leaves, but if he has a nice clean season of fitness, I think you’ve got
someone there who can lead a promotion charge, very definitely.”
With Liam Manning leaving Bristol City to become the new head coach of the Canaries, replacing Johannes Hoff
Thorup, a new era has begun at Carrow Road. However, following the team’s poor performance the previous season,
Prutton cautioned that the 39-year-old will need to perform in the forthcoming campaign.
“The season before last, Norwich finished in the play-offs and were put to the sword by Leeds, then they made a swift
managerial change and that didn’t work,” Prutton explained.
“They feel like they need to be making up for lost time.”
Liam Manning facing big Josh Sargent threat as Norwich City rebuild continues
It has been a positive summer so far for Norwich, with the club poaching Manning from a potential play-off rival in
Bristol City and bringing in a number of new additions.
Although the Canaries’ summer acquisitions of goalkeepers Daniel Grimshaw, Louie Moulden, and Vladan Kovacevic
as well as defenders Jakov Medic and Harry Darling may help them with their defensive issues, Manning may soon
suffer a serious blow to their offensive capabilities if Sargent leaves Carrow Road as anticipated.
It will be very difficult for Norwich to find a replacement who is even close to as prolific as Sargent, who averaged
nearly one goal every two games the previous season. He might not be the only important player they lose this
summer, as 19-goal top scorer Borja Sainz is also expected to leave due to interest from Nottingham Forest, Porto,
Napoli, and Athletic Bilbao.
