Reading FC are expected to sign left-back Matty Jacob on loan from Championship club Hull City. The Royals still need to complete up their roster, but they appear to be on track to sign the 24-year-old for the 2025/26 season. Reading spent much of last season without a recognised senior left-back, giving young prodigy Andre Garcia plenty of first-team opportunity.
Jacob has been out on loan with Pickering Town and Gateshead, and he has spent the last two seasons with Hull. He played eight Championship games last season and scored one goal, but he did not appear in the final 16 games of the season as he seeks regular game time away from the Tigers.
