Frank Lampard transfer claim as Coventry City battle for one of Brazil’s ‘greatest young talents’

Coventry City has been linked with a Brazilian defender.

This summer, the Sky Blues have already signed two players, both in defence.

Frank Lampard has welcomed Spanish left-back Miguel Angel Brau and right-back Kaine Kesler-Hayden to the CBS Arena, signing Brau on a free transfer when his contract with Granada expired, and paying an undisclosed price to Premier League Aston Villa for Kesler-Hayden.

Coventry are reportedly looking for another man to boost their backline in RWD Molenbeek defender David Sousa.

According to Football League World, the Sky Blues have joined a five-club fight for the 23-year-old centre-back, which includes Championship rivals Derby County, Middlesbrough, QPR, and Swansea City.

Swansea are claimed to have had a €1 million bid rejected by the Belgian club for the midfielder, who has previously played for Botafogo and Cercle Brugge and was dubbed “one of the greatest young Brazilian talents.”

Lampard has made it obvious that he is pleased with the club’s summer transfer business thus far.

Regarding the Kesler-Hayden deal, he said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Kaine to the football club, and I’m extremely excited to work with him. After meeting Kaine, I was intrigued by his enthusiasm and desire to play for Coventry City.

“His qualities will fit in with the way we want to play, he is a young player and his defensive and attacking attributes will help to strengthen the squad.”
