Ruben Selles Reunited With Talented Young Centre-back as Sheffield United Finally Make A Signing

Tyler Bindon, a talented center-back, has been confirmed to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest. The 20-year-old is the first player signed by new Blades manager Ruben Selles since he took over at Bramall Lane this summer.

Although Bindon just joined Forest from Reading in February 2025, he spent the rest of the 2024–2025 season with the Royals on loan, which turned out to be an impressive stint. With 44 starts and a significant contribution to Reading’s strong season, the New Zealand international was a standout performer in League One. He was named Reading’s Player of the Season in recognition of his contributions to the team.

Back home, his performances were equally well received. In recognition of his quick improvement and increasing impact for club and nation, Bindon received the prestigious Halberg Awards’ Emerging Talent award in New Zealand.

The center-back Previously flourished under Ruben Selles

The 6’3″ defender and Ruben Selles have previously collaborated. The two had spent the entire 2023–24 season together, during which Bindon made 43 appearances under Selles’ tutelage, in addition to spending the first half of the previous season together at Reading.

The New Zealander demonstrated his defensive dependability and presence in the opposition box throughout that season, scoring two goals, dishing out one assist, and helping the Royals maintain 12 clean sheets.

Bindon is excited about the opportunity to put himself to the test in the Championship now that he is back at Bramall Lane.
