Oldham Athletic signs Mike Fondop to a new two-year contract.

Mike Fondop, the Golden Boot winner and Player of the Promotion season, has agreed to a new two-year contract with Oldham Athletic.

The striker, who helped fire Latics back to the Football League after top scoring with 20 goals, had been linked with moves elsewhere over the summer.

But he said it was always his intention to stay.

Oldham feels like home to me and the support I’ve received from the fans and everyone at the club has been incredible,” said Fondop after penning a deal until the summer of 2027.

“I’m happy to remain longer here. “I have shared a lot of my triumphs here, so I was always going to stay.

I adore this club. “We’ve already experienced some wonderful times together, and I’m looking forward to what the next two years will bring.

” The 31-year-old joined on a free transfer from Hartlepool United in January 2022.

The Cameroonian, who was signed by former manager John Sheridan, has become as a crucial member of the Latics team and a cult hero with Dans in recent years.

Fondop has scored 45 goals in 125 appearances for Oldham. With 20 goals and seven assists in 51 games, the 2024–25 season was his best statistically in professional football.
