Talovierov signs from Plymouth Argyle

Maksym Talovierov, a Ukrainian international, has joined Stoke City on a three-year contract from Plymouth Argyle for an unknown sum.

After joining Argyle for a club record amount in January from Austrian top-tier club LASK, the 6′ 4in defender checks in at the bet365 Stadium after a half-season.

With a high-profile, impressive performance in a 1-0 FA Cup victory against Liverpool, the 25-year-old immediately rose to national fame. In the next round, he won the first game at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.

In addition to playing for Ukraine at the 2024 European Championships, Talovierov has made 17 appearances overall for Slavia Prague and LASK in the Europa League and UEFA Conference League, respectively.

“It is evident that acquiring a central defender of Maxi’s caliber is an essential and vital piece of business for the Club as we continue to build towards the new season,” stated Sporting Director Jon Walters.

“When you consider our two recent additions, Sorba Thomas as well, these are players with international experience who can propel Stoke City ahead in the long run, and that was a key factor in their recruitment to the Club.

Maxi is a Stoke City player in my opinion. In addition to having tremendous Championship football experience under his belt, he plays with both his heart and his head, which is exactly what our supporters love to see in their players.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing our fans when the new season starts because he thrives on having shared energy and connection with the crowd.”

“I’m so happy to be here and to be wearing a Stoke City jersey,” Talovierov continued.

“Playing in England has always been my goal, and the Championship is a challenging yet unique league.

“With competitive teams and a high level of football intensity, I am aware of this club’s size and ambition.

“I came here to put in a lot of work and demonstrate my abilities on the field to our supporters.

“I’m excited to meet them in a packed stadium because the cheers of the fans can really motivate the entire team and give me energy.”
