Nottingham Forest-linked star now wanted by Manchester United, he’s ‘better than Declan Rice’

Some players might now be back today. Anthony Elanga, Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson and Ibrahim Sangare could be among those to get an extended break after heading off on international duty once the season had finished.

Igor Jesus, who has been the only Forest player to check in so far, should be tested as a Premier League player for the first time today.

In order to prepare for the forthcoming season, Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will require reinforcements everywhere on the pitch as the UEFA Conference League draws near and things begin to pick up steam in the upcoming weeks.

Nottingham Forest linked Douglas Luiz wanted by Manchester United

Juventus has told Luiz that he will be free to depart this summer, which should be good news for Forest, according to Corriere dello Sport.

But other teams are circling, with Everton and Fulham also expressing some interest in the player who left Aston Villa just a year ago.

Although Manchester United is the most recent team to show interest, Juventus is willing to transfer Luiz in a possible deal in an effort to get Jadon Sancho to Turin.

United has previously been linked to Luiz, and even though the Red Devils won’t be playing in Europe next season, they are still demonstrating ambition with their acquisitions.

Luiz would be a quality signing for Forest

It’s safe to say that Villa missed Luiz last season, despite Jermaine Pennant’s 2023 remark that Luiz is superior to Declan Rice. The Arsenal player has since moved on.

Although the Villans actually had no intention of selling him, the club had to swiftly perform some PSR acrobatics to ensure they met the requirements for the most recent cycle.

Putting yourself in the running to sign Luiz is sage for Forest. The Reds may have found their new number six in Sangare, but there are questions over how well he will fit in the Premier League.

It will be difficult to pull off, though, with several Premier League teams involved, and Forest may not be at the top of the list considering that a cost of only £25 million is being marketed as the asking price.
