Crucial development emerges in race to sign Lucas Perri and it involves Leeds United.

Leeds United are looking for a custodian this month, with Illan Meslier poised to leave.
Daniel Farke and the 49ers will be fully aware of Leeds United’s need for talent in both boxes next season, which includes a dependable and consistent shot stopper.
As a result, Olympique Lyonnais‘ Lucas Perri might be an interesting signing, with the Lyon stopper serving as a viable alternative to Nick Pope.
Perri’s preferred squad number is available to Leeds if they want to utilise it as a selling point during the discussions part of the transaction.

Leeds target Lucas Perri closes in on Premier League switch
According to initial rumours, Leeds are interested in acquiring priority Perri for £12.8 million this summer. However, a ‘concrete approach’ had not yet been made, and Monaco and Neom SC were also claimed to be monitoring Perri.
That might now change, as Perri is one of six targets set to see increased attention in the crucial weeks leading up to pre-season training and friendlies. Despite Graeme Bailey informing Leeds United News that he does not expect Leeds to sign Perri, the new developments may have modified that outlook.
According to L’Equipe via GFFN, Perri is set to join the Premier League for €23 million (£20 million) in the coming days, with Leeds also interested.
Leeds are currently the only known team interested in signing the 27-year-old Brazilian, making Leeds the most likely destination.

What Roy Hodgson has previously said about Lucas Perri
Perri, who was only 21, was loaned to Crystal Palace for the 2018/19 season. However, the now 27-year-old had not played a single game in any competition before joining Lyon from Botafogo in January of last year. Nonetheless, Perri pleased Roy Hodgson, the former Liverpool and England manager who led the Eagles during Perri’s loan.
He lauded the Brazilian as they worked together at Selhurst Park in 2018. “He’s been very, very good, but the truth is that I’m not going to look past (Wayne) Hennessey and (Julian) Speroni to give him a game,” Hodgson told the South London press, as reported by HITC.
It’s safe to say he’s improved and become a more well-rounded custodian since then, with Perri being one of the most remarkable in Europe in recent years. He has also been called up to the Brazil squad on several times.
