Wilms, a Dutch international defender, joins Aston Villa

Lynn Wilms, a Dutch international defender, has officially joined Aston Villa.

This afternoon, the Villans posted on their official club website to announce the transfer.

The 24-year-old just joined Aston Villa after playing for German Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg for four years.

Wilms won three domestic cups and one league championship with the She-Wolves. Additionally, she and VfL Wolfsburg finished second in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2022–2023.

Wilms began her professional career with Dutch team FC Twente, where she won two league titles, before moving to Germany.

Wilms has scored one goal and received 54 caps for the Dutch national team on the international scene.

The player is a part of the Dutch team that is participating in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 tournament.

“Lynn is a player with plenty of experience at the highest level,” Marisa Ewers, the club’s Director of Women’s Football, remarked after bringing Wilms to Aston Villa.

“We all hope she can help contribute to our own aspirations in qualifying for Europe in the years to come, as she has performed on the Champions League stage.” Aston Villa’s first acquisition of the summer transfer window is Wilms.
