The Coventry City supporter base would not be pleased with the announcement of Newcastle United’s contract, therefore Leicester City should take advantage of it.

Callum Wilson will be departing Newcastle United after five years, the club just revealed.

The 33-year-old was rewarded for his efforts with a Carabao Cup winners’ medal earlier this year after scoring 49 goals for the Magpies.

Wilson’s future is uncertain at the moment, but his goal-scoring record and his track record as a competent Championship operator speak for themselves.

The former England international would be a lethal option for the majority of the division’s teams after contributing 27 goals to Bournemouth’s second-tier championship ten years ago.

Callum Wilson’s departure from Newcastle should be used by Leicester City.

After a disastrous Premier League season in which they became the first club to lose eight consecutive top-flight games without scoring a goal, Leicester City is getting ready to return to the Championship. This will make for a horrible environment at the King Power Stadium at the conclusion of the season.

After 13 years, club legend Jamie Vardy left the Foxes, having scored 250 goals in that time. Wilson would be a good temporary solution if he could maintain his fitness, but the 38-year-old’s void is very impossible to replace.

He would assist in taking Vardy’s position in the locker room because of his extensive expertise playing football at the top level.

The former Newcastle striker would be more than capable of functioning out of the Championship physically because he is five years younger than the Leicester great.

The Foxes are also still awaiting the results of a suspected PSR violation, which, if proven true, could carry a minimum 12-point punishment.

Although Wilson’s pay probably wouldn’t be low, he would be available on a free transfer, thus it wouldn’t increase any financial load they could already be facing.

It would greatly enrage their fierce rivals, Coventry City, to sweeten the offer.

Leicester City’s acquisition of Callum Wilson would probably infuriate Coventry City fans.

Callum Wilson of Coventry City

Wilson was a teenage player in the Coventry City academy before he became a Premier League mainstay and an England international.

Here, the striker eventually established himself, perfected his craft, and showed the country how talented he was as a football player.

His best season was in 2013–14, when he scored 22 goals for the Sky Blues and played a key role in keeping them from relegation.

The striker was signed by Bournemouth the following summer, and the rest is history.

The rivalry between Coventry and Leicester is well known, thus it would be a bitter pill for the latter if one of their youth players wore the renowned blue shirt of the Foxes.

Wilson’s decision to join Leicester makes sense from a football perspective.

Despite their possible points penalty, they should be among the Championship’s most competitive teams the next season and one of the early favourites for promotion.

But football is based on much more than just reason, and when feelings are involved, it’s understandable why Coventry fans would become enraged.

For most followers of the beautiful game, seeing one of their own sign for their fiercest rivals is a nightmare come true. The Sky Blues supporters will be fervently praying that this summer doesn’t bring about that situation.
