Leeds United are looking to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff. The newly promoted club has made a third approach to their Premier League rivals for the 27-year-old, offering £10 million plus £2 million in add-ons.

It has yet to receive a response from Newcastle, but Leeds is nearing the end of its options, with alternative candidates on the table if a deal for Longstaff does not work out.

Personal arrangements have been agreed upon with the Englishman, who is in the final year of his contract with Newcastle. Talks about a new contract last took place in the winter of 2024, and he has scarcely played for the St James’ Park side since then.

Longstaff, an academy alumnus, wants his boyhood team to reward him rather than lose him as a free agent next summer.

Leeds have identified Longstaff as a firm goal for adding quality and experience to their club, according to The Athletic on June 10.

Longstaff’s Premier League experience, which includes 171 matches in the last seven years, appeals to newly promoted Leeds.

Newcastle have primarily utilised him as a central midfielder, with some defensive and attacking tasks mixed in. Last season, Newcastle triggered a one-year contract extension for the 27-year-old, keeping him at the club until June 2026.
