The club’s decision to sign one of its key players to a new contract has come at the ideal moment for Sheffield Wednesday supporters, who have been waiting for some positive news for some time.
It’s reasonable to say that Sheffield Wednesday is not in a good spot at the moment, as the club faces a treble transfer ban due to unpaid salaries and HMRC debts.
In addition to all of this, Danny Rohl has yet to show up for preseason exercise, and it is highly likely that he will depart Sheffield Wednesday this summer.
Andy Holdsworth has been placed in charge of the Owls’ summer training camp in the meantime. Now that Henrik Pedersen has signed a new deal with the club, a more seasoned manager will take over.

Sheffield Wednesday signs Henrik Pedersen to a new deal.
Pedersen, Rohl’s right-hand man at Hillsborough, had a contract that was about to expire this summer, much like that of most of the Wednesday backroom crew.
The Owls received a much-needed lift when they learnt on Monday night that the Danish coach had agreed to a new deal.
“When the opportunity presented itself and the chairman asked me to extend my current contract with the club, I didn’t hesitate,” Pedersen stated after signing the new contract (via the Sheffield Wednesday website).
It goes without saying that my family and I have fallen deeply in love with this fantastic club and the amazing city that has welcomed us.
“A club’s supporters are what keep it going during difficult games, happy times, and bad.” And we have the finest fans!
“With the fantastic group of players we have, I can’t wait to continue my role at the club and get back to work supporting the team.”

Henrik Pedersen will undoubtedly take over as Sheffield Wednesday’s manager if Danny Rohl departs.
Although Danny Rohl has been connected to the Leicester City position, it’s possible that this is his final chance before he is forced to return to S6 and take up his responsibilities as Sheffield Wednesday manager.
Given Rohl’s actions this summer, the Owls’ win would be bittersweet because the fan base is truly disillusioned with him.
However, it’s a very wise decision to have Pedersen locked in for the future in case the German does go. Given the existing situation, it seems doubtful that any outside parties would be eager to replace Rohl (unless a takeover were to proceed, of course).
Pedersen, however, has made a commitment to stay with the team for the foreseeable future and is obviously a fan. Although he is now the assistant manager, the 47-year-old may soon be on the verge of receiving a significant promotion.
