Chemsedine Talbi pictured arriving in North East as Fabrizio Romano confirms £19.5m Sunderland transfer deal

Belgian winger Chemsedine Talbi has arrived in the North East ahead of his £19.5 million transfer to Sunderland.
Sunderland’s summer buying spree shows no signs of slowing, as Belgian winger Chemsdine Talbi arrived in the North East on Tuesday morning to complete a £19.5 million transfer from Club Brugge.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, who posted an image of the 20-year-old’s arrival on social media. The Black Cats agreed to a deal with the Belgian giants last week, and the transfer is now almost complete, with only medical and paperwork pending.

Talbi’s entrance will be Sunderland’s fourth senior acquisition of the summer window, following the signings of Enzo Le Fée for £20 million, Noah Sadiki for £19.5 million, and Habib Diarra. Diarra, who has signed in a deal for up to £30 million from Strasbourg, arrived in the region this week and is set to finalise the transfer soon.

Talbi, regarded as one of Belgium’s top young attacking prospects, has seven goals and five assists in 44 games last season. He has also played in the Champions League and is being tracked by a number of European clubs. Sunderland, on the other hand, made a strong move to sign him, providing a clear path to first-team Premier League action.

The 20-year-old is likely to sign a long-term contract at the Stadium of Light, joining Régis Le Bris’ squad as they prepare for the 2025-26 Premier League season. His ability to play across the front line offers depth and diversity to Sunderland’s attack.

The club’s early summer activity under new sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has already exceeded £89 million, with Sunderland looking for a mix of top-level experience and developing European quality. Talbi’s relocation is expected to be officially announced in the following days.

Here’s how Sunderland’s senior summer signings are shaping up so far:

  • Enzo Le Fée – £20million
  • Noah Sadiki – up to £19.5million
  • Habib Diarra – up to £30million
  • Chemsedine Talbi – £19.5million

Total potential spend so far: £89million

What more Sunderland transfer news is available?
According to Foot Mercato, Sunderland is one of three Premier League clubs monitoring Lens midfielder Neil El Aynaoui. The 24-year-old, who played for Morocco’s U23s, is garnering interest from Leeds United and Wolves, as well as Serie A clubs Juventus, Roma, and Milan.

El Aynaoui is valued at roughly €23 million (£19.5 million) and is seen as a dynamic midfield alternative who can play in a two- or three-man formation. Sunderland have already signed Le Fée in a similar role, but El Aynaoui’s versatility and defensive abilities make him an ideal candidate for Premier League adaptation.

According to sources, Sunderland has expressed interest in RC Strasbourg right-back Gela Doué, but they may encounter competition. However, Fabrizio Romano believes that AC Milan’s €15 million (£12.6 million) offer was rejected, with the Ligue 1 club insisting that the 21-year-old will not be sold this summer. The BlueCo consortium owns Strasbourg, which apparently values Doué at roughly €35 million (£29.6 million). Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested.
