A Sheffield Wednesday transfer update has been released, with a transaction nearing completion.
Sheffield Wednesday is under a triple transfer embargo as a result of its continuous financial issues.
It implies that Hillsborough acquisitions this summer are unlikely, as the club can only give wages of up to £7,000.
As a result, the focus thus far has been primarily on which players will leave the team this summer.
Mallik Wilks will leave Sheffield Wednesday after his contract expired, with a transfer to Turkey now on the cards.
Meanwhile, another talented player is anticipated to sign with a Premier League club during the current transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer update
It was claimed last week that Manchester City are interested in signing Romario Collins from the Owls.
This update comes after it was previously announced that rising talent Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri would join the Sky Blues this summer.
Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Manchester City’s pursuit of Collins this week.
And he’s now stating that the Manchester club has agreed to terms with the young Sheffield Wednesday player.
On X/Twitter, he wrote: “Manchester City Academy recruitment drives continue as #MCFC agreed terms with highly rated U15 talent Romario Collins from Sheffield Wednesday.” As reported by the BBC, the deal follows the recent signing of Caelan Cadametri, demonstrating City’s commitment to acquiring top talent.
Sheffield Wednesday compensated Romario Collins.
In addition to the two talents due to join Pep Guardiola’s squad, another young youngster will be leaving the Owls soon.
Sutura Kakay is leaving, and Sheffield Wednesday is ‘engaged in negotiations’ with Southampton about compensation.
The actual amount of compensation due on Wednesday for each player is unknown.
Collins’ compensation fee, however, has recently been suggested to be in the six figures.
Meanwhile, the Owls will reportedly receive around £2 million for all three of the aforementioned players.
