Best off-contract Super League wingers including Leigh Leopards, Wigan Warriors and Hull FC men

Looking ahead to the 2026 Super League season and there are still plenty of quality off-contract wingers available to sign.

several of the best players in Super League history are on the list, as are several who appear to be on the verge of breakout careers.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the more appealing prospects for teams trying to improve their outside backs in 2026, whether as a starter, a development project, or for depth purposes.

Which off-contract Super League wingers are available for 2026?

Josh Charnley (Leigh Leopards)

Josh Charnley is certainly the most talked-about name on this list, with Adrian Lam even saying this week that he would be willing to loan out the 34-year-old player. Charnley has the second-most tries in Super League history, one shy of 250, but he is currently struggling for game time at Leigh.

He’s only 34 years old, so he still has lots of time, and he’s definitely motivated to catch up with fellow veteran Ryan Hall in order to take the lead in try-scoring.

Tom Briscoe (Hull FC)

Briscoe isn’t as high on the scoring rankings as Charnley, but he’s building to his total and recently drew level with Leon Pryce to rank tied eighth all time in the competition. He also needs one to reach 100 goals for Hull FC, but he isn’t ready to leave just yet, having recently expressed his intention to stay with the club.

Jacob Douglas (Wigan Warriors)

On the other end of the spectrum comes Jacob Douglas, who has only scored four tries in his Super League career, three of which came against Salford earlier this season. The 21-year-old has only made three appearances for Matt Peet’s side this year, but he shows great promise.

Lachlan Walmsley (Wakefield Trinity).

The Australian-born Scotland international does take up an overseas quota place and has previously stated that he intends to leave at the end of the year, but he will undoubtedly have given Daryl Powell plenty to think about considering his performances when he has played. His game is defined by lightning pace and acrobatic finishes, and a team would be wise to take a chance.

Best of the rest.

While the four above stand out, there is still a lot more depth available, with Jon Bennison (St Helens) being another viable option. Bennison has struggled to find playing time at Saints, but he has plenty of Super League experience and would be a good fit for most teams.

Josh Simm (Castleford Tigers) and Fouad Yaha (Catalans Dragons) are two further alternatives to examine, with Yaha, Catalans’ all-time leading try-scorer at age 28, remaining young.
