Sunderland is preparing to announce two new signings for the next season. Reinildo Mandava has completed a medical in Madrid and is set to join the club.
According to Sky Sports, the 31-year-old left defender has agreed to a two-year deal with the Black Cats following the expiration of his contract with Atletico Madrid. Mandava will be confirmed as a Black Cat after all of the relevant paperwork is done, and he will then fly to Wearside to meet his new teammates later this week.
Reinildo will offer major competition and top-tier experience to Sunderland’s defensive lines ahead of their return to the Premier League after an eight-year hiatus. He is also experienced playing in central defence.

The Sunderland transfer is the latest as two deals close.
The Black Cats are close to adding to their team ahead of the new season. Sunderland are also very close to signing Club Brugge winger Chemsdine Talbi in a deal worth up to €20 million. Talbi came in Wearside for his physical earlier this week, and a deal is now said to be extremely close to being finalised.
Sunderland still has a lot to do in the transfer market, and they are actively chasing many more moves with the appointment of Florent Ghisolfi as the club’s new director of football. Chelsea custodian Djorde Petrovic is one target, although there is stiff competition from Premier League rivals. Sunderland is also said to have begun talks with Sassuolo in order to sign forward Armand Lauriente, while sources from Italy suggest that the two teams have different starting valuations.
Sunderland are on the verge of completing a huge departing transfer, with Pierre Ekwah’s loan move to AS Saint-Etienne becoming permanent.
