Wigan midfielder Payne returns to Oldham on loan

Wigan Athletic midfielder Kai Payne has signed a season-long loan agreement with Oldham Athletic.

Payne, 20, had a five-game loan spell with Oldham in the National League last season.

But now he returns to Boundary Park as the club prepares for their debut season back in the English Football League following a three-year absence.

Payne has seven appearances for Wigan, however he has yet to make a league start.

“Kai is a young player with a lot of potential; he gives us a different dynamic in midfield than we saw when he was here last time,” Oldham manager Micky Mellon told the club website.
