Freddie Ladapo scores in Huddersfield Town’s pre-season friendly win over Barrow
Huddersfield Town faced the League Two side in a behind-closed-doors fixture at Canalside today
Huddersfield Town recorded a 1-0 victory over League Two outfit Barrow in a pre-season friendly this afternoon.
Freddie Ladapo netted the only goal of the game eight minutes after half-time in a behind-closed-doors fixture at
Canalside.
Apart from goalie Jacob Chapman, who played the entire ninety minutes, manager Lee Grant selected two nearly
completely different teams for each half.
Despite having a lot of possession in the beginning, the Terriers were unable to penetrate Barrow’s defence. Halfway
through the first half, Town had their first noteworthy opportunity when Ben Wiles arrived and was picked out by
young Peter Thomas. Wiles’ attempt from the edge of the box was stopped.
Josh Feeney’s back-post header from Antony Evans’ set-piece was cleared off the line, but it only reached Dion
Charles, who missed the mark from point-blank range. This was a great opportunity to score from the subsequent
corner.

keeper for the Bluebirds. Town then swiftly drew back from a corner to stop former Terriers defender Ben Jackson’s
long-range attempt.
Manager Lee Grant chose two squads that were almost entirely different for each half, with the exception of goalie
Jacob Chapman, who played the full 90 minutes.
Even though the Terriers had a lot of possession at first, they couldn’t get through Barrow’s defence. Ben Wiles
appeared halfway through the first half and was picked out by young Peter Thomas, giving Town their first
significant opportunity. Wiles’ attempt from the box’s edge was thwarted.
Before Barrow established a stronger defensive position towards the conclusion of the half to maintain the score
goalless going into halftime, Wiles then shot over the bar from the edge of the box.
Eight minutes into the second half, Town broke the tie. The forward selected fellow striker Ladapo to head home
from close range after Joe Taylor was sent in down the right-hand side.
Shortly afterward, Taylor pinched the ball in a favourable place, but his subsequent strike was stopped. Young player
Cameron Ashia’s attempt from the resultant corner also failed.
Mickel Miller spurned a good chance for Town shortly after the hour mark following a through ball by Herbie Kane,
with the wing-back’s outside-of-the-boot strike straight at Stanway, while Ladapo also picked out the Barrow keeper
a few minutes later.
Taylor had Town’s best opportunity in the closing stages to extend the lead, but the forward’s first touch was too
heavy and Stanway came out to smother, while Innes Cameron had a late effort for Barrow saved by Chapman.
This weekend, the Terriers will go to Austria for their training camp, where they will next play Greuther Furth and
BSC Young Boys.
Town (first half): Charles, Evans, Roosken, Feeney, Roughan, Thomas, Wiles, Chapman, Sway, Eccleston, and
Ledson (C).
