QPR Development Squad made a winning start to pre-season on Tuesday night.
Paul Furlong’s youngsters overcame Oxford City at the TSG Training Centre, edging a five-goal affair against their National League North opponents.
With Julien Stéphan among the spectators on a sun-bathed evening, it took a while for things to warm up on the pitch but when they did, it was worth the wait.
After 25 minutes with little to report, five goals arrived in the following 15!
It was Rangers who opened the floodgates; Trialist C coolly tucking away Jake Leahy’s pull-back at the near post.
Seven minutes later it was two. Alex Aoraha was brought down in the box, before dusting himself down to dispatch the resulting penalty.
Oxford City soon responded – halving the deficit with a header from a trialist of their own – but the R’s two-goal lead was just as quickly restored. A free-flowing move was.finished off expertly by Trialist A into the far corner.

Just two minutes later, though, and City replied again. Tom Scott’s close-range finish completed a breathtaking climax to the half.
The goals dried up in the second, largely thanks to Joel Halliday who twice kept out the visitors from point-blank range.
At the other end, Rohan Vaughan almost added gloss to the scoreline at the death but he was denied by City stopper Max Treml.
The Development Squad’s summer schedule continues at Chelmsford City on Saturday.
