Manchester United hesitate as Brentford demand more than £63m for star

Frustration Growing on Both Sides

The pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo by Manchester United has come to a tense standstill. The Brentford forward has made

it apparent that he wants to join Old Trafford, but the two teams are still at a standstill. Mbeumo “has made clear he

wants to move to Old Trafford,” according to The Standard, although United has failed with two bids that have both

fallen short of Brentford’s value.

Citing recent payments like the £55 million Newcastle is paying Nottingham Forest for Anthony Elanga and

Chelsea’s appraisal of Noni Madueke at over £50 million, Brentford is apparently holding out for more than £63

million. “Their valuation is not only fair but perhaps even lower than market value,” the West London club thinks.

Valuation and Negotiation Tensions

Brentford’s determination is evident. Phil Giles, the football director, is referred to as “a shrewd negotiator” and has

the authority to extend Mbeumo’s contract through the conclusion of the 2026–2027 campaign. Because of this, the

Bees are in a strong position and won’t lower their price, even if Manchester United is hesitant.

Brentford is receptive to alternative bids, but United’s indecisiveness still irritates me. The 20 Premier League goals

Mbeumo scored last season as a boyhood United supporter is apparently eager and has been “encouraged by the

wage package on offer were he to move to Old Trafford.”

captain Christian Norgaard and manager Thomas Frank likely to move on, Brentford could face a broader reset, but

only on their terms.

United’s Need for Decisive Action

United’s future planning is still unclear. Fans may be wondering why a more clinical and Premier League-proven

asset like Mbeumo is being subjected to protracted haggling after spending £62.5 million on Matheus Cunha earlier

in the window. Clarity is crucial as preseason approaches and the player is anticipated to return on Monday.

You can’t help but get excited as a United supporter when you imagine Bryan Mbeumo wearing red. The young

player, who scored 20 goals the previous season, has the direct pace and Premier League experience that we sorely

need. In addition, he genuinely wants to perform for us. That kind of drive is important in a time when far too many

players see United as a pay cheque.

However, watching the club dilly-dally while Brentford stay firm is frustrating. Mbeumo is worth the £63 million,

especially when you consider that Elanga, who barely got a sniff at United, is going for £55 million. Brentford are

doing nothing wrong. They are protecting their asset and have every right to demand proper value.

You have the impression that someone else might step in if this continues. And United would have to scramble late

in the window once more. It’s time to support a manager who obviously needs goal threats and act like an ambitious

club once more. Mbeumo would enter the starting lineup.

United may purchase a proven match-winner like Mbeumo if they are able to spend more than £60 million on

Cunha. Before we regret it, do it now.
