Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet will make changes to his side’s spine this week when they take on Huddersfield Giants. The Cherry and Whites return to the Brick Community Stadium on Friday night for the first time since beating Leigh Leoaprds on May 16 and Peet has made a key change to his squad.
With Bevan French sidelined, Jack Farrimond has started the previous two games for Wigan alongside Harry Smith. However, Farrimond was not named in Peet’s 21-man squad this week, and winger Jacob Douglas took his place.
That raises the question of who will play alongside Harry Smith this week, with Adam Keighran the most likely option given the arrival of another outside back to the squad. Kruise Leeming is also a possibility, and Peet has two additional hookers in his squad, Brad O’Neill and Tom Forber.
That is the only alteration Peet has made to his team this week, whilst Huddersfield can only declare a 20-man squad.
The Giants’ loss of Oliver Wilson is a significant blow, as the prop is still dealing with a serious injury. Sam Hewitt, however, returns to the squad after missing the match against Castleford Tigers due to a head injury.
Fenton Rogers also leaves after signing on loan with the Bradford Bulls for the next few weeks.
