‘Lucas Perri transfer twist on cards’ after Leeds United identify priority target
Lucas Perri, the goalie for Olympique Lyon, may be moving to Leeds United during this transfer window.
The Whites’ pursuit of a new custodian is not surprising, as Daniel Farke doesn’t appear to trust Illan Meslier.
Perri has been named Elland Road’s top pick to take the Frenchman’s spot as the West Yorkshire team looks to bolster their roster following their promotion from the Premier League.
However, since a twist might be in the cards, the Peacocks might have to move on to other targets to reinforce in between the sticks.
Leeds United transfer complexity emerges for Perri after Lyon reinstated in Ligue 1
Perri’s potential move to Leeds has become a bit more complex as Lyon has been reinstated into Ligue 1, Isaac Johnson says.
The Leeds Live journalist wonders how the Brazilian shot-stopper’s situation at the Groupama Stadium will unfold amid interest from Elland Road.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Ligue 1 | 33 | 44 | 10 |
The Whites are hoping to sign the 27-year-old from Les Gones, but Johnson still expects the Ligue 1 team to work under tight budgetary constraints.
On X (9 July), the journalist wrote: “Lyon has been reinstated back into Ligue 1 upon appeal.” Leeds’s interest in Perri is obviously made a little more complicated by this, even though Lyon will have to work under tight budgetary constraints. It will be intriguing to observe how it transpires.
Leeds need Perri transfer at Elland Road soon

Given that Karl Darlow finished the previous season as Elland Road’s number one, it is not unexpected to see the Whites vying for Meslier’s replacement.
While the Wales international did well towards the end of the previous campaign, fans will arguably want to see a quality shot-stopper arrive to help the West Yorkshire outfit’s Premier League aspirations.
Djordje Petrovic of Chelsea and Aaron Ramsdale have also been linked to Leeds, although it’s unclear who will be signed.
After Meslier made some terrible mistakes the previous season, it is obvious that the Whites need a new number one.
In the upcoming weeks, the Elland Road supporters will be hoping for a reliable custodian to move to LS11.
Prior to face Everton at home in the Premier League on August 18, Farke should ideally focus on signing a new custodian for the West Yorkshire team.
