JORDAN HENDERSON is extremely unlikely to return to Sunderland this summer, despite fresh reports claiming a move back to Wearside was on the cards.
Henderson is a free agent after opting against extending his contract with Ajax for another 12 months and leaving the club this week.
Uncertainty surrounding the England international’s future this summer has sparked inevitable speculation throughout the summer and links with Sunderland, who are currently in the middle of a bold recruitment drive as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
But the Northern Echo understands Henderson is NOT currently of interest to Sunderland and that stance is extremely unlikely to change.
