Anthony Elanga has already left Nottingham Forest for Newcastle United, and Morgan Gibbs-White is now being linked to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Nuno Espírito Santo and Forest supporters appeared to be in for a summer of speculations over Gibbs-White’s transfer as the season came to a close.
The relief for Forest was short-lived, though, when Anthony Elanga agreed to a £55 million transfer to Newcastle, depriving Nuno of at least one of his best strikers. City then dropped their interest in Gibbs-White and turned their attention to other possibilities.

Nottingham Forest News has consulted transfer analyst Graeme Bailey to find out how much it would cost the Reds to let go of Gibbs-White, who is once again drawing interest from the Champions League.
The assessment of Morgan Gibbs-White in light of Tottenham’s interest
With two years remaining on his contract, Gibbs-White has failed to engage in contract negotiations with Forest, which will have raised concerns at the City Ground.
Spurs manager Thomas Frank has reportedly been a “long-term admirer” of Gibbs-White, according to David Ornstein, which has heightened their interest. However, Bailey has disclosed that it would require an enormous sum of money to see Forest’s creative talent relocate to North London.
“Selling Elanga wasn’t necessary, but it’s a huge profit, so you’re going to have to pay £80-85m now if someone comes in for Gibbs-White or Murillo this summer,” he remarked.
Given Daniel Levy’s past spending patterns, it would be surprising to see Spurs reach the £80 million mark for Gibbs-White given that they are set to spend £55 million for Mohammed Kudus of West Ham.
However, Edu already has possible options in place for the centre attacking midfield position if they decide to make a big move for the Forest player.
Nottingham Forest has looked at potential successors for Morgan Gibbs-White.
James McAtee of Man City has already been identified by Forest as a potential replacement for Gibbs-White.
McAtee would cost £20 million, and although he hasn’t yet played at Gibbs-White’s level on a regular basis, he has displayed flashes of that talent when captaining the England U21 team and at City.
Given his circumstances at Liverpool, Harvey Elliott, who has more experience but is extremely similar, has drawn the Reds’ attention.
Forest was more interested in Elliott as a successor for Elanga, but his skill set would fit Gibbs-White’s role better, and with his extensive Premier League and European experience, he may blossom under Espírito Santo.
