History repeating itself as Sunderland join Leeds in £13m transfer battle after 49ers table offer

While much has been written about Leeds United’s pursuit of goalkeepers, defenders, and midfielders, little has emerged in terms of a Manor Solomon replacement.

Despite scoring the title-winning goal and assisting on 23 goals for Leeds last season, Solomon has returned to Tottenham. Solomon wants a second chance, and Thomas Frank is eager to look into him.

Leeds are down to three wingers and lack a starting option on the left side of their attack. The Whites have replaced Junior Firpo, but have yet to replace Solomon.

However, sketchy claims emerged this week that Leeds had made a £13 million bid for Nice winger Jeremie Boga. Seven years after leaving Chelsea, the Ivory Coast international is looking for new opportunities.

Sunderland now join Leeds in the race to capture Jeremie Boga

Leeds and Sunderland were bound to meet at the bargaining table this summer since they were two of the three promoted clubs. However, many Leeds fans did not expect things to turn out the way they did.

It looks that Sunderland is only looking over Leeds’ list of targets before signing them. Sunderland bought Habib Diarra after Leeds bid £22 million for him. Sunderland signed Noah Sadiki for £17.5 million, after Leeds offered for him.

Sadiki even confirmed the Leeds proposal this week. Reinildo Mandava was approached by both Sunderland and Leeds but selected the former, although Lens playmaker Neil El Aynaoui has been connected with both clubs.

Matthis Albine has also been in talks with both Leeds United and Sunderland. The news has been communicated. Takvim has revealed that Sunderland are interested in Boga, 24 hours after Leeds made an offer for him.

Trabzonspor joins Leeds in bidding for Boga, with talks ongoing

According to Takvim, Sunderland and Leeds are both interested in Boga, although Trabzonspor of Turkey is pushing for his signature. Boga’s asking price has recently decreased steadily.

Trabzonspor has also made a bid of around £7 million to £7.75 million, with Boga given a high salary. Even yet, Trabzonspor failed to qualify for European football in 2024-25.

It is unclear where Boga would prefer to move, whether to a Turkish club looking to break the mold of Galatasaray, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce, or back to England after leaving Chelsea for Sassuolo in 2018.
