According to the Eastern Daily Press, Towler had a brief trial with Stoke City before joining the Norwich club on their end-of-season tour to Portugal. He has now signed a one-year contract with the option of extending it for another year after Town did not offer him a professional contract.
He is set to play for the Canaries’ U21 team, which is managed by Olly Lee, who previously led Ipswich’s U18s. “I’m delighted to join this massive club,” Towler told Norwich’s website. “It’s a great step for me, and I can’t wait to get started.” As a midfielder, I’m comfortable on the ball and don’t mind getting into a tackle.
“Obviously, it’s a weird one because I was at Ipswich for ten years. I’m thrilled to be a Norwich player and can’t wait to get started.
“Being on trial will certainly help me settle in here. I was out in Portugal with the Under-21s, which was a fantastic experience.
It got me interested in the group and allowed me to get to know everyone. “I want to keep on learning and keep developing as a player and then see where that takes me.” Towler appears to be following in the footsteps of Liam Gibbs, who left Ipswich for Norwich after captaining the club as a kid.
