Watford close in on OB striker Luca Kjerrumgaard.

Watford are close to acquiring Luca Kjerrumgaard, the Danish striker they selected as their top target. The Hornets have been looking for a number nine with pedigree all summer, and their efforts to beat heavy competition to get Kjerrumgaard from OB are well underway.
The Watford Observer understands the forward was targeted after a thorough search, with the club determined to find the ideal player after signing Daniel Jebbison on loan from Bournemouth failed last season.
They sold their aim and track record of developing talented forwards to Kjerrumgaard, who scored 22 goals to help OB win promotion from Denmark’s second division last season.
The 22-year-old may arrive on loan from Udinese, but sources say his immediate and long-term future is in Hertfordshire.
The club does not view the Dane as a project signing. They believe he has expertise beyond his years and is the number nine they have been looking for in their quest to compete for promotion this season. Caen forward Alexandre Mendy was considered for the post, but the Hornets believe Kjerrumgaard is a better match for head coach Paulo Pezzolano and the team.
The 6’2 striker will round out Watford’s scoring options, with Mamadou Doumbia and new acquisition Vivaldo Semedo providing competition. He has played for Denmark’s Under-20 and Under-21 teams, scoring three goals in four appearances.
