Trialist pair stick with Bantams as they jet out to Austria

TRIALISTS Jack Hunt and Tyler Magloire will join City for the rigours of their Austria training camp. Hunt and Magloire are among the squad members departing today for a week of hard work in Obertraun.

Yanic Wildschut, who also appeared in the first two pre-season friendly, has said his goodbyes and will hunt for another opportunity at another club.

“I think we need to see them in Austria,” stated CEO Graham Alexander.

“I spoke with Yanic, and we won’t be signing, but the other two are joining us.

“Yanic has an opportunity at another club, so he decided to find out now rather than coming away with us. I get it.

“He could have gone there this week, but I requested him to stay so we could spend more time with him and watch him in the front three instead of as a wing-back.

“But he has another opportunity that he truly wants to take if nothing is decided today. “I couldn’t make him that promise.”

Former Sheffield Hunt, a full back for Wednesday and Huddersfield, is looking to move on after two seasons with Bristol Rovers.

Bradford-born centre half Magloire, who had previously been associated with City, has spent the last three years at Northampton.

Alexander continued, “All three trialists have been fantastic to deal with. They have been here since the first few days and for several weeks.

“But there’s a lot of variety in our game. I’ve been speaking with one of them about the differences from the rest of his career, so we’ll have to try to put things in place.

“But they are good lads and good players.” City officials have stated that there is no certainty that a prolonged trial will result in anything permanent.

But Alexander knows firsthand the value of getting a good pre-season under your belt when you are not under contract. Yanic stated the same thing to me. When he travels for this other opportunity, he’ll be three weeks older and in greater form than when he first arrived here, as they all are.

“I did something similar as a player. I spent six weeks with Bolton Wanderers before returning to Preston to complete my preseason with a Premier League team.

“It was crucial for me. I know I wouldn’t have been ready to start the first game.

“There’s no bringing you up to speed. Preston signed me because I had spent six weeks with Bolton working every day and they felt I was ready to go.

“I played the first game of the season after two days with them.”
