LASSE Sorensen is one of the nicest and most personable footballers you could possibly wish to meet.
When discussing Huddersfield Town’s fortunes in the second half of last season, when their form plummeted, there is a fair lot of anguish hidden between his courteous comments and smiles. Sorensen, a good professional who joined the club from Lincoln City last summer, was stung by happenings, with the upcoming season presenting an opportunity for atonement and a new chapter with Town, who is presently on an abroad training camp in Austria.
The Danish wing-back said: “I can only speak for myself, but I believe that many football players are quite competitive.
When we lose, I know a lot of people are upset, but I don’t think anyone is angrier than us in the locker room. Even while it may not be what people believe, I am informing them that it is. “No one likes waking up on a Sunday after delivering a poor performance; it hits you hard and is unpleasant. “You don’t just say, ‘Ah, well, it’s only a game,’ and move on.
It damages your own pride because everyone has an ego and personal pride, and it’s not nice to have that damaged.”
Sorensen began the season in impressive manner, but his fortunes, like Town’s, would deteriorate – exacerbated by some injury concerns – and he confesses that last season was a rollercoaster. He went on to say, “It began out exactly how I had hoped and planned, but then I went away for a long period and returned. Since I returned, the results and the whole situation have been up and down, and for me, it has been a little of the same. “Ups and downs and not as much consistency from me and the team as well.”
