After all, preseason activity got underway with a bang as the new-look Blues easily defeated Spanish powerhouse Sevilla 3-1, and they recently spent £10 million on Kyogo Furuhashi to bolster an already strong forward line.
Birmingham is now aiming to get a Premier League player. As Davies dripfeeds minutes to his entire camp before the second tier is revealed, only Phil Neumann of all the summer acquisitions would be unleashed from the first minute against Sevilla, despite a flurry of new players entering the building.
With speculations indicating that Birmingham has added the Japanese gem to their shortlist after he impressed in the J1 League with Kyoto Sanga, Taichi Hara may soon be another option the Blues manager tests out in the final preseason games.
