Birmingham is considering a fantastic deal to sign a £14 million star.

If you’re a Birmingham City supporter right now, it must be hard to control your enthusiasm.

After all, preseason activity got underway with a bang as the new-look Blues easily defeated Spanish powerhouse Sevilla 3-1, and they recently spent £10 million on Kyogo Furuhashi to bolster an already strong forward line.

Birmingham is now aiming to get a Premier League player. As Davies dripfeeds minutes to his entire camp before the second tier is revealed, only Phil Neumann of all the summer acquisitions would be unleashed from the first minute against Sevilla, despite a flurry of new players entering the building.

With speculations indicating that Birmingham has added the Japanese gem to their shortlist after he impressed in the J1 League with Kyoto Sanga, Taichi Hara may soon be another option the Blues manager tests out in the final preseason games.

Alongside him, Birmingham might further expand their Asian market reach by acquiring Hwang Hee-Chan, an attacker for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Hwang’s potential as Kyogo 2.0

Hwang’s goalscoring record at the top of Wolves during his peak will be sufficient to persuade Blues supporters that this is a worthwhile acquisition to pursue, even though he has slid down the Molineux hierarchy since Vitor Pereira entered the picture.

Since moving to the West Midlands for £14 million, he has scored 22 Premier League goals, 12 of which were scored during the 23–24 season. As a result, Gary O’Neil, the Old Gold manager at the time, praised the South Korean striker as “excellent” for his clinical tendency in front of goal.

Furthermore, his goal-scoring prowess extends to a remarkable stint as the team’s captain for Austrian RB Salzburg, during which he amassed an impressive 45 goals, three of which came in the prestigious Champions League.

With three of his incredible 151 career goals occurring on Europe’s biggest stage, Kyogo is also well-versed in what it takes to be a goalscoring threat at this formidable level.
