Report: Celtic could now sign “tremendous” £75,000-a-week defender on loan; Ferdinand rates him

According to a recent Celtic transfer report, the club may have to split the salary of a “great defender” in a potential summer loan move.

Rodgers looking for new attackers at Celtic

The new Scottish Premiership season is drawing closer, with the Hoops kicking off their campaign at home against St. Mirren on August 3rd.

There is still time for Celtic to complete some crucial transfer business this summer, with Brendan Rodgers looking to acquire two new offensive players, according to writer Pete O’Rourke.

“Bringing such a young talent to a new league would be a gamble if Celtic pursued his signing. Ambrosino is a young footballer with huge promise. He is a player Celtic could nurture and provide minutes to, but I believe Brendan Rodgers would also try to recruit a big-name striker. According to my sources, Celtic will sign two strikers, a huge name and a young one who can be developed.

Guiseppe Ambrosino, a Napoli youth, has been linked with a loan move to Celtic, and it will be intriguing to watch who signs between now and the end of the transfer season.

New update on Celtic recruiting a £75k-per-week defender

According to Football Insider, Celtic may only be allowed to recruit Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia if United “subsidise” his wages as they seek a deal for the left back.

According to reports, a loan transfer to Parkhead is the “most likely outcome” and “would be the only way a deal could be struck between the two clubs” this summer, with Malacia earning £75,000 per week at Old Trafford.

It doesn’t appear that Celtic will be able to complete a deal for Malacia in the near weeks, but he might be a valuable addition if they do.

Granted, Kieran Tierney has already returned to the club following his time at Arsenal, but competition for positions is always beneficial, and Malacia has previously been praised by Rio Ferdinand.

“Malacia today was incredible, fantastic. He reminds me of Patrice Evra in many ways. He is athletic and appears to be a pound-for-pound powerful kid. There haven’t been many left-backs in European or international football in the previous four or five years who have gone out of a game and kept Mohamed Salah quiet.”

It’s possible that the deal to Celtic will not go through, which would be fine given Tierney’s signing, but 47 games for United and nine caps for the Netherlands is no little accomplishment.
