West Brom have stepped up their preparations for the 2025–26 season.
The Baggies’ playing team is adjusting to the new concepts that head coach Ryan Mason hopes to impose, with the Black Country club drawing 1-1 with Dynamo Kyiv in a behind-closed-doors friendly encounter in Austria.
Albion have brought in two new players this summer, with seasoned Championship defender Nat Phillips joining up at The Hawthorns and Norwegian attacker Aune Heggebo signing from SK Brann.

Albion are currently dealing with chronic P&S difficulties, but they are likely to be busy during the summer transfer window as they seek to assemble a squad capable of competing for promotion back to the Premier League.
With this in mind, FLW has selected two players who West Brom should buy before the season begins on August 9th against Blackburn Rovers.
Harry Toffolo

West Brom still need to address the left-back position this summer.
Callum Styles spent the bulk of last season in that position, while Gianluca Frabotta did not start a league game and is expected to leave this summer to address P&S concerns.
Styles’ natural position, however, is in midfield, where his diminutive size allows opponents to attack him with long balls into the left channel.
To fight this, full-back Harry Toffolo, who is still a free agent after being released by Premier League club Nottingham Forest, could be a cheap and economical option.
Toffolo has 99 second-tier games in the Championship and a strong attacking contribution record at this level, most notably six goals and seven assists for Huddersfield Town in 2021-22.
The 29-year-old is exactly what Albion need in the dressing room, with key leadership characteristics, knowledge of the division, and what it takes to compete at the top of the table.
As Albion prepare for a new era under Shilen Patel, the acquisition of Toffolo might assist improve the backline and instill a winning attitude.
Mikey Moore

Meanwhile, despite Grady Diangana’s departure, the Baggies have yet to make any additions to their wide players.
Tom Fellows’ future is also uncertain after recording 14 assists in the second division last season, with top-flight club Everton linked with a move.
Meanwhile, in their friendly against Dynamo Kyiv this month, Ryan Mason chose to play Mikey Johnston on the right wing, as the Irishman appears poised to stay at the club after his £5 million deal to Flamengo fell through.
If Fellows leaves and Johnston is preferred on the right side, Karlan Grant will face stiff competition on the other flank.
